January 2, 2024 – Accomplish Health, a leader in obesity medicine, is proud to announce the addition of Dr. John Morton to its Board of Advisors. Dr. Morton, a highly regarded figure in the medical and surgical communities, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Accomplish Health, particularly in obesity, metabolic and bariatric surgery, and healthcare quality.


Dr. Morton currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine, holding several prestigious positions. He is the Vice-Chair for Quality, the Service Line Director for Digestive Health, the Division Chief for Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery, and the Medical Director for Surgical Quality and Bariatric Services in the Yale New Haven Health System, which encompasses six hospitals.

Dr. Morton’s academic contributions are notable. He has published over 200 articles and has presented more than 300 times at national and international forums. His leadership in conducting 5 site FDA Pivotal Trials and securing funding from renowned institutions like the National Institutes of Health and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation highlights his commitment to advancing medical research and practice.

His past roles include serving as the elected President of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) from 2014-2015. He is the recipient of innumerable awards and honors. Specifically, in 2017, Dr. Morton was honored with the ASMBS Foundation Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement, and in 2019, he received the Walter Pories Award. He has significantly contributed to research, teaching, advocacy, and healthcare quality throughout his career, leaving a lasting and far-reaching impact.
